Sculptural ceramic vase, 1970s

Description

Unique, hand-crafted ceramic vase with an expressive, organic form inspired by nature. The body is adorned with fluid, relief decorations reminiscent of tangled leaves, roots or plant shoots, extending beyond the rim of the vessel and creating an almost sculptural composition.

The surface is covered with a striking glaze in deep shades of brown, graphite, green and blue. Each side of the object presents a different arrangement of forms and light and shadow, making the vase interesting from every perspective. The item

is very heavy and solid, made from thick studio pottery. The body bears the monogram “RB”, probably the signature of the artist or studio.

Material: glazed ceramic.

Mark: monogram “RB”.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. No visible cracks or repairs. Minor signs of wear consistent with age.
