A poster from an exhibition of Aurelio Teno’s work, held from 6 to 20 October 1965 in Copenhagen. The exhibition featured the artist’s sculptures, jewellery, collages, drawings and paintings. The poster is signed and dated by the artist.

Aurelio Teno lived from 1927 to 2013. He was a Spanish painter and sculptor. He began as an apprentice in the workshop of sculptor Amadeo Ruiz Olmos, then worked in a goldsmith’s workshop, and from 1939 studied painting and drawing at the School of Arts and Crafts in Córdoba. From 1965 onwards, he held a series of international exhibitions in Copenhagen, Paris, New York, Rabat and St. Louis, Missouri. In 1976, he cemented his international reputation as a monumental sculptor by winning a competition to create a sculpture of Don Quixote, which was intended to stand in front of the Kennedy Center in Washington, competing against Salvador Dalí and José de Creeft. He was a member of the Royal Academy in Córdoba. He received a gold medal for jewellery design in Munich, as well as the International Diamond Award Medal for Jewellery Design in the USA.

The work is in original vintage condition. There is a slight water stain on the mount. The frame shows signs of use and age.
