An elegant sideboard designed in the 1960s by Kai Kristiansen for the Danish manufacturer Feldballes Møbelfabrik. It is made of high-quality, fine rosewood with richly figured grain. The sideboard has four drawers, with the fronts embellished by elongated wooden handles. It stands on tapered legs made of solid wood. The sideboard can also be used as a TV cabinet. Thanks to its compact form, it is ideal for smaller rooms.

Kai Kristiansen is a Danish designer who is still regarded as one of the most talented Scandinavian designers of the 20th century. He graduated from the prestigious Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen under the guidance of designer Kaare Klint. At the age of 26, Kristiansen opened his own studio, which he shared with his contemporary Illum Wikkelsø in the 1970s. His designs were produced by renowned Danish manufacturers such as Feldballes Møbelfabrik, Fornem Møbelkunst, Fritz Hansen and Magnus Olesen. Kristiansen frequently combined teak and rosewood, as seen in his chairs, desks, sideboards and wall units. In 1956, he designed his most famous work, Chair No. 42 for Schou Andersen. It was well received by critics and continues to enjoy enduring popularity as one of the most enduring Danish designs of the 20th century. In the 1950s and 1960s, he designed for FM, and his most successful project was the modular shelving system FM Reolsystem from 1957. Available in various additional shapes and sizes, it achieved great success not only in Scandinavia but throughout Europe and the United States. Although Kristiansen is thought not to have been the only designer working for Feldballe, he was the best known.

The sideboard has been preserved in its original, very good vintage condition. It has minor age-related marks.
