An oak desk designed in the 1960s by Danish designer Svend Åge Madsen and manufactured by Sigurd Hansen.

The desk has a clearly defined, symmetrical composition. The корпус is based on two full drawer units – three drawers on each side – giving the form rhythm and order. The central legroom remains open, and its generous dimensions ensure comfort for every desk user, regardless of height.

The drawer fronts are finished with original leather handles, a distinctive feature of this model that is rarely found in other designs from the period. The handles remain in their original condition, with signs of use visible in the photographs.

The piece underwent meticulous, professional restoration, including the removal of old finishes, staining, and lacquer finishing. The restoration was carried out by a talented and experienced cabinetmaker with more than 20 years of experience. As a result, the desk looks outstanding and can serve its new owner for many years without concern about damage or deterioration through everyday use.

Svend Åge Madsen was a Danish furniture designer whose work dates primarily from the 1950s and 1960s. His designs are considered representative of the Danish Modern style, using natural materials such as teak and rosewood. Madsen primarily designed desks, tables, cabinets, and functional furniture, which were produced by Danish manufacturers such as H.P. Hansen and Sigurd Hansen Møbelfabrik, as well as other Scandinavian furniture makers. His work from the 1960s is now valued as an example of post-war Nordic design.

Sigurd Hansen Møbelfabrik was a Danish furniture manufacturer active in the mid-20th century, known primarily for producing furniture in the Scandinavian Modern style. The company manufactured many designs by well-known designers of the era, including furniture designed by Svend Åge Madsen. Under the Sigurd Hansen brand, desks, chests of drawers, and other interior furnishings were produced in an aesthetic characteristic of the 1950s and 1960s – made from woods such as teak and rosewood and distinguished by solid construction and minimalist detailing. Sigurd Hansen Møbelfabrik collaborated with various designers, and its production is now recognised among collectors of Scandinavian vintage design.
