The Fenix chaise longue designed by Sam Larsson for the Swedish brand Dux is an interesting example of Scandinavian design from the 1960s, clearly inspired by the functional approach of the Bauhaus. The model is based on a simple, technical construction in which the form follows the function directly—with no unnecessary decoration, but with a strong emphasis on comfort and proportions.

A distinctive element of the design is its chrome-plated steel frame, with a light, almost architectural form, combined with a soft, suspended seat. Constructions of this type were popular in modernist design of the 1960s, when great importance was placed on the visual lightness of furniture and on exposing its structure.

The chaise longue is made of chrome-plated steel and genuine leather. The seat has been newly upholstered in high-quality black leather, which works well with the cool character of the steel construction and emphasises the minimalist aesthetic of the design. The metal chrome-plated frame has been preserved in its original, good condition, with signs of age and use in the form of scratches and rust. The combination of these materials gives the piece a timeless character typical of modernist lounge furniture. The chaise longue allows the angle of the seat to be adjusted, making it possible to adopt a position ranging from upright sitting to almost fully reclined. The mechanism is in working order.

Stylistically, the Fenix model strongly references the aesthetics of the Bauhaus and post-war modernism, with its simplicity of line, functionality and reduction of form to the necessary minimum.
