Spherical crystal vase, Nachtmann, Germany, 1960s
Description
Spherical crystal vase, Nachtmann, Germany, 1960s
Spherical vase made by the German glass manufacturer Nachtmann in the 1960s. The vase is made of high-quality 24% lead crystal Bleikristall 24%. Cut with decorative motifs.
The Nachtmann glassworks was founded in 1834 by Michael Nachtmann in Unterhütte, Upper Palatinate. He was an excellent glass manufacturer. In 1900, the company was taken over by Zacharias Frank, who moved its headquarters to Neustadt an der Waldnaab. After the war, in 1945, Nachtmann rebuilt its partially destroyed production facilities and began producing lead crystal. In 1983, a third, highly modern crystal factory was established in Weiden in der Oberpfalz. In 2004, Nachtmann was taken over by its rival, the Austrian crystal manufacturer Riedel, which now operates under its own name and brand.
The vase is in original vintage condition.
