Description

Vintage three-seater sofa, Bröderna Anderssons, Sweden, 1950s

Three-seater sofa made by the Swedish manufacturer Bröderna Anderssons in the 1950s. The sofa is upholstered in a high-quality fabric in a rich red colour. It is an example of old-school craftsmanship, with the frame and armrests filled with seagrass. The seat cushions are resilient and very comfortable. The sofa legs are made of beech wood in a light brown colour. Its organic shape reflects the designs of the Mid-Century Modern era.

Bröderna Andersson is a family-owned company founded in 1946 by three brothers: Sven, Inge and Max Andersson. What characterises the Bröderna Andersson tradition more than anything else is Swedish quality, craftsmanship and pride in creating every piece of furniture. The secret to these craftsmen’s success lies in traditional handcraftsmanship. At Bröderna Anderssons, the entire production chain is kept in-house. From selecting the types of wood and producing the frames themselves to the final stitch. This provides a unique overview and enables complete control.

The sofa has been preserved in its original vintage condition. One leg shows signs of having been glued. It has minor fading and discolouration on the fabric, as well as unevenness caused by the natural material beneath the upholstery. The seat height is 40 cm. The manufacturer’s mark is located on the lower rail.

The colours of products shown in photographs may differ slightly from the actual colours. This is due to individual monitor settings and the type of lighting—the photographs were taken in artificial light, which may affect the perception of the shades. We nevertheless endeavour to ensure that the photographs reflect the actual appearance of the product as accurately as possible. Photographs of the item in an interior setting may appear in the listing. They are for illustrative purposes only.
