Vintage Paged seating set, PRL, 1970s

An exceptional and exceedingly rare seating set produced on commission for the Polish company Paged in the 1970s. The furniture was made in cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt. The set consists of a sofa and two armchairs. The forms of the pieces reflect the strong design sensibilities of the era’s most distinguished Mid-Century Modern architects. Their organic, rounded shapes evoke the designs of Danish and Italian masters of furniture making. The sofa’s rounded, visually light silhouette is offset by its angled sides. The armchairs resemble open shells in form. The entire set has been restored and upholstered in high-quality velvet in shades of powder pink and burgundy. The seat cushions have been additionally reinforced with firm, durable foam. The pieces were restored in accordance with professional upholstery practice and the aesthetic of their production period. Photographic documentation of the pieces before restoration is available on request. The legs have been left in their original condition, made of solid wood in a dark brown finish and completed with brass details. The set has an original and exceptional appearance, and a suite of this calibre becomes the focal point of any interior. We may venture to say that this is currently the only example of its kind for sale anywhere in the world. It was produced in a limited number of pieces and remains undervalued in the art furniture market. The set is in very good vintage condition. The upholstery has been renewed. The seat height is 45 cm. Armchair height: 82 cm | Width: 78 cm | Depth: 70 cm.
