Velvet lounge suite, Holm Fabriker AB, Sweden, 1960s

This modernist lounge suite was manufactured by the Swedish furniture maker Holm Fabriker AB in the early 1960s. It comprises a four-seat sofa and an armchair, upholstered in premium-quality velvet in shades of royal blue. The fabric has a high abrasion rating and a hydrophobic protective coating. The pieces stand on turned solid-wood legs. Rounded sides with wooden details and contoured, quilted backrests give the furniture its distinctive character. The cushions are loose. The suite has a unique presence and was made with care and precision, making it suitable for a central position where its form can be appreciated from every angle. This rare model is not only an aesthetically appealing piece but also an investment.

Karl Holm founded his factory in 1918. He was a qualified professional in his field. In 1919, he began producing sofa frames, which were his speciality. As time passed, the company expanded. In 1936, an upholstery workshop was added. Gradually, the factory began specialising in the production of sofa beds based on its own patents, while also producing armchairs and other furniture. The company survived until the 1970s and left its mark on history.

The suite is in very good vintage condition. The upholstery has been refurbished. The seat height is 45 cm. Armchair height 80 cm | Width 85 cm | Depth 75 cm.
