Aztec-style leather container, Imprex, West Germany, 1970s
Description
Decorative vintage basket/container made of embossed leather with a distinctive motif inspired by pre-Columbian and Aztec art. Manufactured in West Germany by IMPREX
The model dates from the 1970s and is a very interesting example of decorative vintage design from an era fascinated by ethnic and tribal styles.
The entire piece is made of thick, moulded leather in dark brown, with an embossed geometric ornament and stylised figures and symbols. The basket has a metal side handle.
It will work great as: a magazine rack, a decorative basket, an organiser, a decorative element for interiors in the boho, vintage or eclectic style.
Condition: good vintage condition with natural patina and signs of wear consistent with its age. The leather has retained its very attractive colour and texture.
Material: embossed leather, metal
Style: tribal / ethnic / mid-century / vintage boho
Marked on the underside: “IMPREX D-Wiesbaden”
A very decorative and rare collector’s item with the distinctive character of the 1970s.
