Description

Brutalist sideboard, Germany, 1960s/70s

A unique Brutalist sideboard made in Germany in the 1960s/70s. The sideboard was made entirely of wood using traditional craftsmanship in a small workshop. Finished in a dark, varied colour that accentuates the natural grain of the oak veneer.
The front is adorned with a geometric pattern, hand-painted using a glazing technique in shades of black and brown, creating a fascinating three-dimensional effect and sense of depth. This unique motif gives the sideboard a sculptural character.
Notable features include the angled cornice along the top, which emphasises the piece’s distinctive form, and the original handmade brass lock escutcheons. Original brass keys are included. Sturdy wooden legs complete its austere, architectural profile.
The sideboard has three spacious drawers and two doors, behind which are shelves.

Made with great attention to detail, this piece combines strength of form with precision craftsmanship. A striking sculptural accent for interiors in a range of styles
