Ceramic Ato-Mat wall clock, Junghans, Germany, 1970s

Description

Original vintage Junghans ATO-MAT wall clock, made in Germany in the 1970s.
The clock is characterised by a distinctive cream-coloured, square ceramic case, a round dial with a chrome-plated ring and elegant gold-plated hands.
The dial bears the markings “JUNGHANS ATO-MAT” and “LIC. ATO GERMANY”.

The clock is in working order and currently fitted with a Junghans W738 quartz movement marked “Made in Germany”, powered by one AA battery.
The W738 movement is a later model used by Junghans; it should therefore be noted that the current movement may be a later replacement or an upgrade of the original movement.

A label from the German watchmaking workshop L. Weimann in Idar-Oberstein has also been preserved on the back cover, an interesting detail for collectors.

The clock fits well with Mid-Century Modern, Space Age and German vintage interiors.
It presents well in both modern and traditional interiors.
