Gustav Bolin lived from 1920 to 1999. He was born in Sweden, but a year after his birth his family moved to Paris, where he remained permanently. In 1947, he began exhibiting at the Salon de Mai. Drawn into the circle of artists gathered around the avant-garde Galerie Pierre Loeb, he held his first solo exhibition there in 1948. He subsequently exhibited at Galerie Art Vivant, in the distinguished company of de Stael, Mirò, Germain and Lanskoy. Following this early success, he moved to Antibes, where he could work amid the Mediterranean landscape he loved. Bolin held numerous exhibitions around the world, including in the USA, Japan and Sweden.

Between figuration and abstraction, his art is a perpetual search for independence and harmony.
His figures move us, his labyrinths dazzle us, his lights soothe us. Each painting is a unique adventure that cannot leave the attentive observer indifferent.
