Description

T69 table, designed by Osvaldo Borsani and Eugenio Gerli for the Italian company Tecno. The original “Tecno Milano” manufacturer’s label has survived beneath the top. The model entered production in the mid-1960s and remains one of the most recognisable Italian design tables of the period. Its defining feature is the sculptural base: four arched legs grow from a common centre and spread downwards and upwards, resembling a flower or tulip. The base is made from an aluminium casting lacquered in matt black, while its outer edges are finished with a brushed stainless steel profile. The contrast between the black and satin-finished metal emphasises the dynamic line of the legs and gives the table a sense of lightness.

The round top is made from thick, transparent glass with a softly ground edge. It leaves the entire base structure visible, so the table does not overwhelm the interior. The top rests on pads positioned at the ends of the base arms, which sit against dedicated openings cut into the top. The 140 cm diameter allows up to six people to sit comfortably at the table. The table will work well in a dining room, kitchen or living room, as well as a conference table in an office or study.

Osvaldo Borsani (1911–1985) was one of the most important Italian architects and designers of the 20th century. In 1953, together with his brother Fulgenzio, he founded Tecno in Varedo near Milan, a company that quickly became a symbol of modern, technically advanced Italian design. His best-known designs include the D70 sofa and P40 armchair. Eugenio Gerli (1923–2013) was a Milanese architect and designer who collaborated with Tecno for many years.

The table is in Original, Very good condition. It has only minor signs of use appropriate to its age: delicate scratches on the legs and one small chip on the edge of the glass top.
