Description

Large brass candlesticks, 1970s
A striking pair of large, heavy brass candlesticks in the Brutalist style, from Europa and dating from the 1970s.
The candlesticks are characterised by a distinctive, geometric form typical of European design from the mid-20th century and Brutalism. The monumental, polygonal base rests on six short legs. The upper section consists of a wide, hand-textured bowl with a central candle spike.
Particularly striking is the irregular, hammered surface of the bowls, which beautifully reflects the light and emphasises the sculptural character of the candlesticks.
These are not delicate, decorative candlesticks – their large size, heavy form and solid construction make them a distinctive element in any interior. They are ideally suited to Brutalist, Modernist, Mid-Century Modern, loft and eclectic interiors.
