This painting is another expressive pictorial composition, very rich in colour and texture, executed in a primitivist or naïve style, with strong elements of Expressionism. The painting radiates warmth and tranquillity. It is both naïve and spiritual. The colours are vivid, the composition is orderly, and the subject appears personal, filled with inner meaning. Despite its simplicity of form, the painting possesses considerable emotional expressive power.
Frideborg Bryth lived from 1910 to 2007. She was born in Huskvarna. She was married to the artist Lennart Lilja. Together, they ran studios and focused mainly on oil and acrylic painting. In 1978, they jointly published the book Yttringar, featuring Lennart’s poems and Frideborg’s illustrations. Both belonged to the Dalsland Artists’ Association.
The work is in its original vintage condition. The frame shows signs of use and age.
