Description

A lounge armchair produced in Denmark in the 1970s by Dyrlund, as confirmed by the original metal manufacturer’s badge on the frame. The construction is made of solid teak. The armrests curve gently into the front legs, while the rear legs are slightly splayed outwards, giving the armchair a light, open silhouette. The backrest with horizontal slats and loose cushions is typical of Danish modernism: a simple form that ages well and suits both vintage and contemporary interiors. Unfortunately, we were unable to identify the designer of this model.

The warm, honey-toned teak is paired with cushions upholstered in graphite fabric. This calm, versatile colour palette will suit a range of arrangements. The deep-set seat and slightly reclined backrest provide a comfortable position for reading or resting, while the slender frame means that the armchair does not overwhelm the space. The cushions can be removed, making it easier to keep the armchair clean.

Dyrlund is a Danish furniture manufacturer that produced solid wood furniture from the 1960s, mainly in teak and rosewood: tables, chairs, sofas, armchairs and drinks cabinets. The company worked with designers such as Erik Buch, and its furniture is valued for its solid construction and careful joinery.

The armchair has undergone professional restoration. The old finish was removed from the teak frame and it was coated with new lacquer, while the cushions were newly upholstered in graphite fabric. The piece is in very good condition and ready for use.
