Vintage modular sofa, designed by Eberhard Geißler, Oelsa, Germany, 1970s
A sofa designed by Eberhard Geißler and manufactured at the Oelsa Furniture Factory (Oelsa Möbelwerke) in Rabenau, East Germany (GDR), in the 1970s. This piece perfectly captures the innovative and flexible spirit of 1970s design, when furniture was created with multifunctionality in mind. Designed as a modular model, the sofa consists of two elements joined together with wing nuts. The elements can be transformed into two armchairs. (4 armrests included)

The structure is made of upholstery foam, furniture panels, and solid wood, while the seats are supported by upholstery webbing and zigzag springs. The sofa has been newly upholstered in a textured fabric with a refined pattern in shades of gray and beige, enlivened by a dynamic, dark, organic-shaped motif. The base, meanwhile, has been finished in natural black leather. The inner seat filling has been replaced while retaining the original spring system.
