Original tapestry or rug Lewki designed by Maria Janowska for the Wielkopolska Cooperative of Artistic Industry in Poznań in the 1970s. Handwoven, single-sided, with the utmost precision. /
The textile is made of wool and cotton in vivid shades of brown, yellow, orange and green. The composition depicts nine lions. The tapestry can be used as a rug or hung decoratively on a wall.

Maria Janowska was born in Warsaw in 1929. From 1947 to 1951, she studied at the Department of Textiles at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She created unique kilims and tapestries. From 1953 onwards, she collaborated with Cepelia.
She held numerous solo exhibitions throughout Poland. She received many awards in competitions and Cepelia exhibitions devoted to art textiles. She won a gold medal at the Munich Fair in 1962, as well as a gold medal at the exhibition Visual Artists in the Cepelia Circle in Warsaw in 1973.

The tapestry has been preserved in its original vintage condition. It shows signs of age-related wear. The fringes are worn in places. Before dispatch, it will undergo professional cleaning and will be ready for use.
