Round Rosewood Coffee Table, Ilse Möbel, Germany, 1970s

A rare, modernist coffee table manufactured by the German company Ilse Möbel in the 1970s. The large, round top is finished in rosewood veneer in a chestnut-brown shade. It features rich and captivating grain. The table rests on a slender, chrome-plated, four-spoke base. The piece is elegant and functional. The advantage of round tables is that they are less visually imposing, fit into smaller spaces, and their streamlined shape brings harmony to an interior.

Ilse Möbel’s history began in 1890 in Uslar, near Göttingen. The small workshop focused on woodworking, creating handmade, high-quality furniture from fine woods. The company also produced musical equipment, table lighting, garden furniture, and the Kombi-Lift system—a mechanism allowing tables to be raised and extended simultaneously. Despite its broad range of products, Ilse Möbel remained committed to the highest standards of craftsmanship.

The table remains in its original vintage condition. It has minor age-related marks and a natural patina. The table does not have a functioning height-adjustment mechanism.
