Description

Pair of vintage leather armchairs, Ire Möbel AB, Sweden, 1970s

A set of rare armchairs manufactured by Ire Möbel AB in Skillingaryd, Sweden, in the 1970s. The armchairs have been upholstered in black genuine leather with longitudinal stitching. They feature a soft and comfortable seat and integrated armrests. A high, contoured headrest is complemented by an additional removable cushion. The whole is set on a metal frame made of chrome-plated tubes, forming the chair’s distinctive base. The backs of the armchairs are upholstered in an elegant navy-blue fabric. The slender form and gentle curves contribute both to the piece’s visual appeal and to its comfort. They combine the tradition of Swedish design with modernity.

The Ire manufactory was founded in 1939 in Skillingaryd, Småland, by Gerhard Ihreborn. Gerhard Ihreborn and his colleagues were inspired by a vision: to produce high-quality furniture with a long service life and timeless, modern design. The goal was never large production volumes, but a commitment to quality. Ire’s core philosophy has remained unchanged over the years. They produce durable furniture with the highest quality craftsmanship, exceptional comfort, and clean design. The manufactory remains rooted in the modern Swedish tradition, while also drawing inspiration from the international design market.

The set is in original vintage condition, with signs of age. It has minor scratches and scuffs on the leather, which has developed a natural patina over time. The seat height is 41 cm.
